How is the head divided horizontally and where?
The head is divided in half at the canthi.
-Two halves make up the head measurements
How is the face divided horizontally and where?
The face is divided into thirds by drawing a horizontal line at the hairline, the brow line, the base of the nose, and the base of the chin
-The face is divided into thirds
Where is the ear placed when dividing the face horizontally
The middle third. It makes up a whole third of the face
More divisions can happen in the face than the former mentioned thirds. What and where are they when they happen horizontally
The bottom third of the face can be divided into ninths. From the nose to the chin is divided 9 times
Base of the nose, to the lip line of closure, to the top of the chin, to the base of the chin
How is the face divided when done vertically
The face is divided into 5ths when done vertically.
-Every 5th of the face is one eye wide (canthi to canthi)
-The mouth is two eyes wide. A vertical line drawn in the middle of each eye should line up with the corners of the mouth
How many heads high is the average adult?
7.5 to 8
-When professional artists painted important figures they made them 8 heads high as height is associated with power.
What is an easy way to measure the thirds of the face?
The tip of the thumb to the tip on the index figure
