A

1) External beam radiotherapy- fires beams of radiation at cancer cells from multiple angles.
2) Brachytherapy- radioactive seeds or pellets implanted near to or in the tumor and left there permenantly.

What exercise should you not do if patient has a picc line?

A

peripherally inserted central catheter used for IV chemotherapy treatment.

Upper body exercise as this can cause blood clots in central line.

What is a typical chemotherapy regime?

A

Chemotherapy drugs are most commonly administered in combinations for a total of 6 cycles. 3 weeks between cycles.

Parity- having had no children; children above 30 years old- thought to be due to having had less mentrual cycles.

Oral contraceptive pill

Alcohol

Being overweight/obese

lack of physical activity

combined hormone replacement therapy (estrogen and progesterone)

Non-breast feeding.

A
