Cancer Flashcards
Indications for chemo
Cell type, palliative, adjunct to micrometastatic, radiosensitization (increase for therapy)
What is the heirarchy of cell death in chemo
hematopoietic cells (bone marrow) > epithelial tissue (GI) > mesenchymal
Vincristine, vinblastine, paclitaxel, docetaxel - type of drugs
Phase-specific
Cytosine arabinoside, hydroxyurea, methotrexate- type of drugs
Non-phase specific
Concern with cyclophosphamide
Bladder toxicity- sterile hemorrhagic cystitis
What drug should be substituted for cyclophosphamide in toxicity
Chlorambucil
What toxicity is associated with lomustine (CCNU)
Hepatotoxicity due to active metabolites from first pass hepatic
What is the toxicity of Cisplatin
Nephrotoxic- pre-must fluid load and diurese after; fatal pulm edema in cats
What should substitute for cisplatin
Carboplatin
Cross BBB
Lomustine, methotrexate, cytosine arabinoside
What hsould not be used in cats because it causes seizures
5-flurouracil
What agent causes anaphlyaxis
Doxorubicin
Sub for doxorubicin
Actinomycin D or Mitoxantrone
Actinomycin D vs Mitoxantrone
Actin- non cardiotoxic
Vinca alkyloids- phase or non?
Phase specific- M phase
