what is cancer
A
mutations in the genes that control cell division can cause cells to grow out of control

what type of mutatens cause cancer
A
ionising radiation (UV RAYS) , carcinogenic chemicals ( cigarette smoke )

What is malignant cancer
A
- A malignant tumour grows quickly, will invade other tissues and can break off and spread around causing tumour - life threatening

What is benign cancer
A
tumour grows slowly and is kept in one place - don’t invade other tissues

What are examples of cancer treatments
A
Chemotherapy - prevents synthesis of enzymes required for dna replication
Radiotherapy - cell killed
Drugs - prevent spindle fibres - prevents mitosis
