Academic advisor
A person who helps students make desicions about their academic programs
- Dr. Jones is the academic advisor for the engineering students
Assistant professor
A teacher who ranks above a lecturer and below an associate professor
Associate professor
A teacher who ranks above an assistant professor and below a professor
- Dr. Smith is an associate professor now, but she will be promoted soon
Counselor
A person who gives advice, often of a personal nature (emotional support)
Dean
Administrador, leader of institution
- Above a department chair and below a vice president
Department chair
Administrador for a division of a college/university
Faculty member
A person who teaches in a college/university
- Professors, assisants, etc
Head resident
The advisor for a dormitory
e.g. The head resident can help you resolve problems you have with your roommate
Instructor
A teacher who ranks bellow an assistant professor
Lab assistant
A graduate studet who helps in the lab
Lecturer
A teacher usually without rank
Registrar
An official in charge of keeping records
Research assistant
A research position under the supervision of a faculty member
Resident advisor
An advisor who lives in a dorm in order to provide supervision and counseling for students
Teaching assistant
A graduate student whose teaching duties are supervised by a faculty member
