Arrangement
n. A particular way in which things are put together or placed
Distribution
e.g. …a circular arrangement of bluestones
Burial
n. The act of putting a dead body into the ground, (or ceremony connected to it)
e.g. The monument was constructed as a burial site
quarry
n. a place where stone, sand, etc. is dug out of the ground for use as building material
e.g. Stones had to be carried long distances from quarry sites
Ridge
n. a long, narrow raised part of a surface, especially a high edge along a mountain
Strike (struck)
v. To hit hard, beat
e.g. The stones would actually ring when struck,
Enhance
v. to improve, embellish the quality or strength of something
e.g. Burials could have been enhanced by ancient music
aid
n. help or support
e.g Bluestones were thought to aid in the healing of people
chip
n. a small piece that has been broken off a larger object
e.g. Small pieces of bluestones chipped from the originals
Scatter
v. to move apart in many directions
Strew/disperse
e.g. Small pieces of bluestones were found scattered throughout the site
Stone mace
n. a wooden club with a head made of some heavy and hard material, such as stone
blunt weapon

n. a type of soft white rock
unearth
v. to discover something in the ground
incense
n. a substance which is burned especially in religious services, and which gives off a pleasant smell
