What did the Chartists want?
They demanded 6 reforms. Annual elections, secret ballots, payment for MPs, all men over 21 years old could vote, no property qualifications, each MP represented an equal amount of people.
What was the Great Reform Act? When was it passed?
In 1832. It allowed middle-class men to vote, increasing the percentage of people that could vote from 2% to 3%. It also legally banned women from voting (before, women rarely voted, but it happened).

When- August 1819.
Where- St. Peter’s Field, Manchester.
Who- Henry Hunt -> wanted reformation
What- Landowners signed a warrant to arrest Hunt. 15 people died.
Why- Hunt wanted power for everyone, but the landowners wanted it for themselves.
Who were the Suffraggists?
Led by Millicent Fawcett, they campaigned peacefully. Her goal was “to show the world how to gain reforms without killing people and blowing up buildings”.
