canted angle (dutch tilt)
sometimes the camera is tilted, this technique is sometimes used to suggest a pov (ie when the camera becomes eyes to a character) or to suggest tension or disorientation
eye level
the camera is placed at the same level as the character we are looking at. this encourages connection with a particular character
birds eye veiw
a veiw of the scene from above, as if the audience were a bird, offers an overall veiw of the scene/ setting- it’s an unusual shot as it detaches us from the action
worms eye veiw
a veiw of the scene from below. the camera is on the ground. offers and extreme low angle and is often used as pov or to show an unusual perspective
two shot
a shot with two characters used to show a relationship , can be any shot size or angle. often used during convos
over the shoulder shot (OTS
a shot which we see a character it subject from another’s shoulder. again, commonly used in conversations. it encourages us to see the conversation from a characters perspective
