Low angle shot
Used to make subject look stronger, more superior, threatening, more imposing and more powerful
High angle shots
Used to make subject look smaller, weaker less powerful or threatened
Long and wide shots
Used to show landscape, to emphasise a characters loneliness or isolation, or to maximise the impact of a spectacular battle of environment
Close ups
Used to show specific info, let’s us see and feel the emotions of a character or to emphasise the impact of a particular object eg. repeatedly showing the close up of a gun would emphasise its power and status
Dutch angle shots
Used to make a scene seem dramatic, exotic, disorientating, dreamlike or confusing
Panning (rotating), Tracking (moving/following), Zooming
Used to follow a character, disorientate or involve the audience, create tension, slowly reveal or hide elements of the mise-en-scene
