Devices used to save files permanently
What is the difference between Storage and Memory?
Storage is permanent whereas Memory is temporary
What are three examples of Storage?
Hard Drives (HDD), Solid State Drives (SSD) and The Cloud
What is one advantage and disadvantage of Hard Drives?
Cheap and reliable, Not durable due to moving parts
What is one advantage and disadvantage of Solid State Drives?
Durable because of use of circuits and therefore no moving parts, More expensive
What is one advantage and disadvantage of Cloud Storage
Easy access to anywhere with internet, User is relying on security of the company supplying the storage
What is Main Memory?
Everything directly accessible by the processor
What are three examples of memory?
RAM (4-32GB), ROM (5-10mb stores essential programs) and Cache Memory (small and very fast, holds frequently accessed instructions and data)
What are three examples of storage device ports?
SCSI (old), SAS (high tech), SATA (standard)
