calvin cycle phase 2 Flashcards
step 2
the energy stored in NADPH & ATP are transferred to the 3-PGA molecules to form a high energy molecule - G3P
step 1
Carbon fixation: the joining of carbon with other organic molecules (6CO2 combine with 6 five carbon compounds, forming 12 two carbon molecules -3-PGA
step 3
2 G3P molecules leave the cycle to be used to make glucose & other organic compounds
step 4
an enzyme, RUBISCO, converts the leftover G3P molecules (RuBP.) these molecules combine with new CO2 molecules to continue the cycle
is phase 2 dependent or independent?
independent
RUBISCO that ties into the 4th step..
RUBISCO is the most important biological molecules because it turns inorganic CO2 into organic molecules
where is energy stored?
organic molecules (glucose)
