Name the Seven Sacraments in Order
Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist/Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders, Anointing of the Sick/Last Rites (think of the acronym BRECHAM)
What are the Sacraments of Initiation?
The sacraments that induct a person into the Catholic Church
What are the Four Rites of a Mass?
Introductory Rite, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist, The Concluding Rite
What is the Introductory Rite?
The introduction into a mass and the priest’s entrance and greeting
What is the Liturgy of the Word?
One of the main components of a mass; contains the reading of the Gospel, followed by the homily and the prayers of the Faithful
What is the Liturgy of the Eucharist?
The other major component of the mass; includes the preparation of gifts, Eucharistic prayers and the communion rite.
What is the Concluding Rite?
The conclusion of the mass; after the Eucharist, when the priest farewells the mass and everybody exits.
How is Christ present in the mass?
Christ is present in those who attend mass, in the word of God proclaimed in the mass and in the Eucharist.
How do we show reverence to Christ?
We show reverence by recognising and responding to his presence in all of us and in the mass, especially the Eucharist. We also show reverence by listening to the word of God with open eyes and hearts.
What is benediction?
The blessing of the Eucharist either in the Tabernacle or during the ritual.
What is a pilgrimage?
A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey
What is heaven?
A state or situation in which those who know and love God reach the final state of togetherness with him
What is our spiritual food?
The Eucharist is our spiritual food, nourishing the soul as food and drink nourish the body
What happens when we consume Communion?
We come closer to God and our souls are changed into the spiritual food. We enter a spiritual union with Jesus
