Unicentric CD- affect all ages, no gender predilection, most common in mediastinum, solitary mass
multicentric CD - predominantly HIV, HHV8, infection. Often present as multifocal cervical lymphadenopathy with associated cytopenia. More likely to be mixed hyaline-vascular, and plasma cell variants.
what does CD163 and CD68 stain?
CD 163
Positive staining - normal: monocytes / macrophages
Positive staining - disease: histiocytic sarcoma
CD68
Macrophage / monocytes, Langerhans cells, mast cells, myeloid cells, CD34+ progenitor cells, neutrophils, osteoclasts, activated platelets and B and T cells
