Calibration Terms Flashcards
Degree of inaccuracy of a UUT or calibration equipment expressed by manufacture
Accuracy
Degree that the UUT is to be calibrated to, cannot be less than manufacture’s accuracy rating
Tolerance
The highest value of the measured variable that a device is adjusted to measure
Upper range value (URV)
The value of the indication, output or ultimately controlled variable of an idealized device or system
Ideal value
Refers to the condition or results of a calibration after the final adjustments have been made to the device or UUT
As left (AL)
Measurement related to standards through an unbroken chain of comparisons
Traceability
Set of readings taken while increasing the input to the device or UUT
Upscale
Adjustment of a UUT to shift the output curve in a parallel direction from the ideal linear line
Zero
Adjustment of the UUT to shift the angle of the output curve
Span
The lowest value of the measured variable that a device is adjusted to measure
Lower range value (LRV)
Comparison of an instrument to a known value
Calibration
Tabulated results of a calibration of a device which includes de minimum items of a report
Calibration Report
A signal applied to a device, element or system
Input
Set of readings taken while decreasing the input to the device or UUT
Downscale
The algebraic difference between the indication and the ideal value of the measured signal
Error
