1
Q

Beer’s Law

A

A = abc

where:
A = absorbance
a = molar absorptivity (a constant)
b = length of light path (usually 1 cm)
c = concentration (g/L)

Q

Creatinine Clearance (uncorrected and corrected)

A

Uncorrected: U * V / S * Collection time or U/S * V
Corrected: U * V / S * Collection time * 1.73/A or U/S * V * 1.73/A

Where:
U = Urine creatinine (mg/dL)
V = Urine volume excreted in 24 hours (mL)
S = Serum creatinine
Collection time = minutes
A = Average body surface area (m^2)

Ideally, collect serum creatinine at midpoint of 24-hr urine collection

Q

Friedewald Equation (how to calculate LDL)

This equation is invalid at what value triglycerides?

A

LDL = Total cholesterol - HDL - VLDL

VLDL = Triglycerides/5

*NOT applicable if Trilycerides is >400 mg/dL (over 2x healthy max)
