What is the role of an introductory paragraph (in CACE)?

A

-gives the reader background information about the two subjects that the writer will compare
TS:
-includes the two subjects the writer is comparing
-uses parallel structure to list the points of comparison
-uses language that shows if the writer will focus on similarities, on differences, or one both
