Q

Example of redox reaction

A
  1. CuO + Zn ==> ZnO + Cu
  2. We can rewrite Cu2+ + O2- ==> Zn2+ + O2- + Cu
  3. we can remove oxygen because they are spectator ions and don’t take part in the reaction
  4. Cu2+ + Zn ==> Zn2+ + Cu
  5. We can make two half equations
  6. Cu2+ + 2e- ==> Cu and Zn ==> Zn2+ + 2e-
  7. Zinc is reducing agent and copper is oxidising agent
