C5 Dash 8 V Speeds Flashcards
V1
Takeoff Decision Speed
T/O abort prohibited this speed. PF removes hand from Power Levers above V1
Lower Index on T/O
VR
Rotation Speed
Typically a few knots above V1. Not marked on airspeed indicator
V2
Best Performance Climb Speed.
Speed for single engine climb to 1,000’ AFE, or if maximum performance is required due to windshear or GPWS.
Bugged for T/O
Normal two engine climb is V2 + 10 until Acceleration Height.
Also called T/O safety speed.
VFR
Flap Retraction Speed
Flaps are retracted during single engine departure or go-around / missed approach.
Reached via level acceleration at Acceleration Height.
VSE
Single Engine Climb Speed.
“Push IAS”
Climbout from Acceleration Height on single engine departure.
Bugged Speed.
VSE-ICE
VSE + 15.
- 200: If Icing is present, reset the index to this speed after reaching 1,500 AFE.
- 300: Index this speed if icing is present.
VREF-ICE
Landing Reference Speed if any of the following conditions are present:
- Ice accumulation on wing leading edges.
- Maneuvering with bank angles exceeding 15º during the approach
- Windshear is reported
- Gusts greater than 10 knots.
Speed is bugged.
VREF
Landing Reference Speed
Final Approach Speed provided none of the conditions for VREF-ICE are present.
Speed is indexed.
VSE (landing)
Single Engine Go Around
Single Engine Climb Speed listed under landing data on TLR. Use -Ice speeds as appropriate.
