C4 Equations Flashcards
How do you find the mass of a component in a chemical reaction
Balance equation
Mark your ? and ✅
Find the number of mols for ✅ ( mass / Mr)
Use the equation to work out the ratio between ? and ✅ and find out what the mols of ? should be
Use mass = mols x Mr to find mass
Equation to find moles
Moles = mass/Mr
What is the volume of 1 mole of ANY gas
24dm^3
How to find the number of moles of a gas
No of moles = volume ( dm^3 ) / 24dm^3
How do you find concentration
Conc ( mol/dm^3) = moles of solute / volume cm^3 x 1000
Conc ( mol/dm^3 ) = moles of solute / volume dm^3
How do you calculate g/dm^3
Conc (mol/dm^3 ) x Mr
What is 1 dm^3 equal to
1cm^3 x 1000
How do you calculate the percentage yield
Actual mass / maximum theoretical mass - x 100
How do you calculate maximum theoretical mass
Balance equation
Mark your ? and ✅
Find the number of mols for ✅ ( mass / Mr)
Use the equation to work out the ratio between ? and ✅ and find out what the mols of ? should be
Use mass = mols x Mr to find maximum theoretical mass
Equation for atom economy
Relative formula mass for desired product / sum of Mr for reactants - x100 ( use the big numbers to multiply Mr )
Method for a titration
Clean, dry pipette, transfer 25cm3 of alkali to conical flask
Add a few drops of indicator to alkali
Fill a clean dry burette with acid
Note starting volume
Add acod into conical flask and swirl
When indicator starts to change, add acid dropwise and swirl
When colour change lasts 10 secs, stop adding acid, not new volume
Calculate titre and repeat until 2 concordant results are obtained
