The number of older people within the UK has increased. This requires specific health care professionals as the older population has specific needs. This is critical for them to keep their independence
What is provision for older people needed for?

Appropriate housing eg own home or residential home, supporting independence, personal care, day to day care and respite care
What are examples of community equipment?
Keeping people mobile and independent in their home by proving mobility aids eg walking stick and aids for day to day living such as rail in the bathroom
What are examples of psychological care?
Receiving treatment from counsellors and mental health nurses
What are examples of benefits and entitlements?
Adaptations to homes eg ramps, wide corridors, transport to and from appointments, and financial support
What are examples of end of life support?
Pain relief, psychological support
How are healthy older people helped to stay healthy?
- occupational therapy
