C2 Managing Quality Flashcards
Benchmarking
The systematic process of searching for best practices, innovative ideas, and highly effective operating procedures that lead to superior performance. Comparison against best performance. Helps identify areas that need improvement.
Cause analysis
Determining why a certain outcome is occurring.
Cause and effect diagrams
Illustrate the factors that may influence or cause a given outcome.
Pareto analysis
80/20 rule. Most effects come from relatively few causes. There are few vital causes than impact quality.
Root cause analysis
Identifying the root cause of a problem. Keep asking ‘why?’ until the primary cause is found
Flowchart
Used in process analysis. Shows all steps and the order in which they occur. Uses standard symbols.
Failure mode & effects analysis
Process analysis in which potential failure are identified before they occur, and allows for planning for if it does occur.
Value stream map
Flowchart which details process to help determine which add value and which do not. ex. receiving through service of food
Check sheets
Tool for collecting data about observations. A way to record the number of times a given event occurs that has an impact on a given process.
Histograms
Visual representation of data (graphs) which may show patterns not seen when just looking at the numbers.
