Principals of Good Writing

A
  1. Short, Sensible Sentences (avg 15 words) and Paragraphs (1” in depth for single spaced, or 6 lines, but can be up to 2”)
  2. Efficient Phrases, Vocabulary and Images (commonly accepted words and word pictures; avoid jargon, “official-speak” and acronyms)
  3. Active Voice (primarily): >90% active. passive = to be with a past participle ending in -ed or -en.
  4. Packaging that supports. (BLUF, quickly and easily understood).
