Q

capsid has icosahedral symmetry

A

composed of VP1, VP2, VP3 and VP4 (viral protein). VP123 form surface of capsid, there is 180 subunits. primary structure of VP123 differs but all form a beta sheet structure call a beta barrel jely roll. it is wedge shaped. one beta sheet forms one wall. a 2nd formed a 2nd wall and third the floor. this shape facilitates interaxns btwn subunit forming a rigid subunit. inside capsid are 60 copies of VP4, they are non covalently attached

Q

genome is inside

A

+ive strand RNA does not have cap. covalently attached to 5’ end is a protein called VPg. 3’ end has a eukaryotic like poly-a-tail. at 5; and 3’ end are untranslated terminal region
