C-spine HVLA Flashcards
OA HVLA
Dx: Flexed Sidebent left rotated right
Contact right posterior occiput posterior to the mastoid process
Cradle head and side bend OA to the right and rotate to the left
HVLA thrust medially (left) anteriorly and superiorly
AA HVLA
Dx: AA rotated left
Cradle head in hands and contact left lateral mass with lateral margin of left index finger
Rotate the head to the right to restrictive barrier (slight extension/flexion as needed)
HVLA rotationally thrust through lateral mass
Typical Cervical Rotational thrust HVLA
DX: C2-C3 rotated left, sidebent left
spinous process between finger tips
flex head and let it fall over the bridge
Rotate to the right and sidebend left (toward ceiling)
Thrust with finger lifting on the left to make a rotational motion
Typical Cervical Sidebending thrust HVLA
Dx: C4-7 Rotated left and sidebent left
Flex the head and stay there
Sidebend opposite dx ( sidebend right)
Rotate towards the dx (rotate left)
Thrust towards the opposite shoulder
