C/S hypermobility Flashcards
1
Q
C/S hypermobiltiy S&S
A
- intolerance to prolonged static positions
- feeling of instability, shaking, lack of control
- fatigue, holding head up (head too heavy)
- muscle gurading to protect instability
- ligamentous dull ache
- frequent need for self manipulation
- neurological symptoms: present with greater instabilty
2
Q
C/S hypermobility presentation and eval
A
- observation: poor posture
- UQS ROM: excessive, aberrant movements and pain at end range
- joint assessment: excessive joint play, lax end feels
- possible stiff adjacent areas such as upper thoracic and upper cervical
- neuro S&S with greater grades of hypermobility
- osteophytes on X-rays
3
Q
C/S hypermobility interventions
A
- avoid end ranges
- neutral C/S
- posture: axial extension - reduce forward head rounded shoulders kyphotic posture
- correct any hypomobilty in adjacne areas Upper cervical and upper thoracic
4
Q
Stabilization exercises for the C/S
A
- jull - deep cranio-cervical and cervical flexors
- multifidi/extensors muscle exercise
- scapular retractors - mid trap, rhomboids
