Q

how to find pH from molarity

A

pH = -log(H+)

pH = the negative log of the concentration of H+ ions

  • ex: if 0.01 M HCl, what is the pH?

Q

how to handle logs on the MCAT?

A
  • log (#) –> log base 10
  • so 10 to what power = # ???
  • negative logs
      • log (0.1) = 1 because 1 x 10^-1 = 0.1
      • log of 1x10^-4 = 4, - log of 1x10^-11 = 11 etc.
