Define Value Proposition
What customer problems is the business solving and how? Will Customers pay for it?
Define Customer Segments
Whose problems are being solved? Does the value proposition match their needs?
Define Customer Channels
How can the business deliver its products and services? How can it communicate with customers?
Define Customer relations
How or what can attract customers to the business? How or what can retain these customers? In what ways can relationships be built with them?
Define Key Activities
What routines, processes, etc. must be executed and what must the business do better than its rivals? What capabilities does it need?
Define Key Resources
What assets must be in place? Can the business access these assets?
Define Key Partners
What other orgs are critical to the business? How powerful are these organizations? What resources and capabilities must they provide?
Define cost structure
What are the fixed, variable, and capital expenses? What is the timing of these expenses?
Define Revenue Streams
How do customers pay? Is the revenue based on one-time transactions or recurring payments? How are revenues generated?
List the decisions to be made about the business model
- Different pieces of the business model must fit together in logically consistent ways
- Often involves experimentation
- Solicit input from key stakeholders during business model design and product development processes
- Changes in the internal and external environments can require business model changes
