BUS Topology Flashcards
Understanding Bus Topology
1
Q
What is BUS Topology
A
Bus topology is a network type in which every computer and network device is connected to single cable. When it has exactly two endpoints, then it is called Linear Bus topology.
2
Q
What is the Structures of Bus Topology ?
A
- It uses one direction when transmitting data.
* A single cable is used to connect every device.
3
Q
What are the Five Advantages of Bus Topology?
A
- It is cost effective.
- Less Cabling compared to other network topology.
- Normally it is used in small networks.
- It is easy to understand.
- Expansion is easy, join only two cables together.
4
Q
What are the Four Disadvantages of Bus Topology?
A
• Cable failure then the whole network fails.
• If network traffic is heavy or nodes are more the
performance of the network decreases.
• Cable has a limited length.
• It is slower than the ring topology.
