inflammation of synovium-lined sacs that protect bony prominences and joints

what is the cause?
A
bursa become inflamed after repeated pressure or trauma - may present as soft tissue swelling
can become secondarily infected and form an abscess

small fluid filled sacs lined by synovium around a joint which prevents friction between tendons, bones, muscle and skin
