What is a superficial burn?

A

Only the outer layer of the skin is damaged
e.g. sunburn
little help is needed

Intermediate burn

A

This involves more than the outer layer of skin
blisters will form as a sign of deeper damage
very sore and causes great discomfort
this needs medical attention to heal properly

Deep burns

A

Entire thickness of skin
all of the layers have been damaged often bone and muscle are involved
no pain is felt as nerve ending have been severely damaged
this definitely need urgent medication attention

How can Burns occur

A
Chemical contact
 contact with steam, hot liquid, lasting 
an open flame 
touching any hot object 
 electricity

Thermal burns

A

Caused by explode at to more heat energy then body can absorb without damage
open flames, when a person‘s clothing catches on fire
These burns are often accompanied with inflation burns

Scald injuries

A

Hot liquid such as hot water, coffee or hot oil not as deep as thermal burns

Contact burns

A

Coming in contact with hot object such as a heater or hot metal
they are not usually such deep burns as the body has a reflex action would usually prevents contact with hot objects for too long

Flash burn

A

Quite rare
Caused by explosions which briefly expose the victim to intense heat
other injuries are usually so to associated with this type of burn

Inhalation burns

A

This type of burn is not on skin but eith breathing in steam and can burn down to the Arioli or poisonous gasses which displays the oxygen in the blood stream which cause the casualty to become shorter oxygen which in turn will cause him to become claustrophobic

When do you suspect burns to the airway??????????

A

When the casualty was exposed to smoke a hot gases
When he was in a close place when the burn accured
Loss of consciousness in burning area
When you examine the casualty you find burns in the face, singed nasle hair, blisters or redness inside the mouth and throat, brassy, horseness, stridor cough, sooty septum, soot inside moth and through, wheezing

Severe infection

A

Send blister was broken no barrier against infection

Can’t die from it but can call septic shock which will then jeopardise the casualties chance of survival
