What are the four types of burns
Thermal
Chemical liquid
Chemical powder
Electric
Treatment for a thermal burn
Stop the burning if still burning
Treatment for chemical liquid burn
Flush area with water (emergency decon)
Treatment for chemical powder burn
Brush off as much of powder as possible and the flush with water
Treatment for electrical burn
Get PT away from electrical
(Cut power and remove from hazard)
Treatment for any burn
Remove restrictive clothing
Less than 10% cool with saline dressing
More than 10% core area with dry steril dressing first followed by clean dry sheet
Elevate burned extremities
Treat for shock
O2 as needed

Hypothermia
Moist dressing can increase the risk
Total body surface area percentage for adults
Head 9% front and back
