What lights are on top of north cardinal marks?
Continuous flashing white light
What lights are on top of east cardinal marks?
Three very quick white flashes in a five-second period
or
Three quick white flashes in a ten-second period
What lights are on top of south cardinal marks?
Six very quick white flashes followed by a long white flash and a ten-second period
or
Six quick white flashes follow by a long white flash and a fifteen-second period
What lights are on top of West Cardinal marks?
Nine very quick white flashes in a ten-second period
or
Nine quick white flashes in a fifteen-second period
What lights are on top of an isolated danger mark?
White flashing light. It will flash twice in every ten second period
What are the four possible light combinations atop a safe water mark?
- A long flash every ten seconds
- Occulting (more light than dark)
- Isophase (equal periods of light and dark)
- Morse A (dot followed by a dash)
What are the lights for an emergency wreck mark?
Alternating blue and yellow light.
Blue for 1s, off for 1/2s, yellow for 1s, off for 1/2s, repeat.
If there are more than one of these buoys deployed on a wreck site, the lights will be coordinated
What lights are on special marks?
Any rhythm other than that reserved for a white light.
