Bundle Branch Block Flashcards
What is the diagnostic criteria for RBBB?
QRS > 120ms
Wide, slurred S wave in lateral leads
RSR’ phenomenon in leads V1 - V3
Give 3 causes of RBBB
Normal variant - increasing age Pulmonary embolism Cardiomyopathy Myocarditis Cor pulmonale Atrial septal defect
Treatment of RBBB
Cardiac resynchronisation therapy if degree of heart failure/bradycardia
What criteria is used to diagnose MI in a patient with old LBBB?
Sgarbossa’s criteria
What are the criteria in Sgarbossa’s criteria?
Concordant ST elevation > 1mm in leads with positive QRS complex
Concordant ST depression > 1mm in V1 – V3
Excessively discordant ST elevation > 5mm in leads with a -ve QRS
Give 3 causes of LBBB
Aortic stenosis
Hypertension
IHD i.e Myocardial Infarction
Cardiomyopathy
What is the diagnostic criteria for LBBB?
QRS duration > 120ms
Dominant S wave in V1
Broad monophasic R wave in lateral leads
