What is bulimia?
rapid consumption of a large amount of food, followed by compensatory behavior, so vomiting, fasting, or excessive to prevent weight gain.
How does the DSM define a binge?
eating an excessive amount of food, that is much more than most people would eat within a short period of time. Second, feeling of losing control over eating–as if one cannot stop.
what is the key difference between anorexia and bulimia?
weight loss; people with anorexia lose a tremendous amount of weight, whereas people with bulimia do not.
What is bulimia co morbid with?
depression and substance abuse

menstrual irregularities, recurrent use of laxatives causes changes in electrolytes and irregularity in heartbeat. Recurrent vomiting causes tearing of stomach and throat tissue, loss of dental enamel, and salivary glands become swollen
