  • he never entertained people with public spectacles and hardly present at ones given by others

Nero and the great fire

  • countless mansions, residents, and temples destroyed
  • Nero accused Christians of starting the fire to remove suspicions from himself. Many Christians arrested and brutally executed ( burnt alive )
  • Nero was in Actium and returned to offer relief which he paid for with his own money - opened palace for homeless
