How to roll out a slab.

A

1) make a template.
2) gather a rolling pin, two matching sticks, a peice of cloth, a board, a lump of clay, and a needle tool.
3) throw clay on cloth until its flattened some.
4) place sticks on both sides.
5) begin rolling clay flat until it is level with the sticks.
6) place template on flattened clay.
7) cut around template with needle tool.
8) remove excess clay from around the desired peice.
9) gently pick up slab from cloth and place on board.

Making a coil pot.

A

1) Make a template out of paper for the base.
2) Roll out a slab and create a base.
3) Roll long snake like ropes out of clay.
4) Score and slip base and coil.
5) Blend coil into base.
6) Continue building uo the walls with coils.
7) Blend inside wall as smooth as possible as you build.
8) Add interesting designs into the coild with spirals, braids, twist, balls, and other things.
9) Finish top off with an interesting and eye catching manner.

Throwing on the wheel

A

1) Sign out bowl of tools and wheel.
2) Put on an Apron.
3) Weih clay to desired amount for project.
4) Wedge clay on kneading board.
5) Pick up a bat.
6) throw piece of clay into center of bat.
7) begin pressing on clay with hands to center.
8) push thumbs into center.
9) test thickness of base with needle tool.
10) open bottom of peice with middle and ring finger.
11) begin pulling up walls.
12) remove all water and soft clay from walls and base of the vessel.
13) wedge the base of the peice.
14) trim top with needle tool.
15) add any additional designs with a wedge, needle tool, or finger.
16) cut peice off bat with wire tool.
17) write name on bat with clay.
18) remove bat from wheel and sit it on counter to dry.
19) clean wheel and tools.
20) put away bowl, tools, and apron.

Putting a foot in a peice.

A

1) remove peice frim bat.
2) lock into banning wheel upside down.
3) clean edges of the base and bottom of the peice.
4) trace guide circle in bottom.
5) deepen the circle with the small loop tool.
6) begin carving out center with large loop tool.
7) write name and date in the bootom.
8) place in drying cabinet.

Pulling a handle.

A

1) grab a small amount if clay from bag.
2) form a carrot shape.
3) hold clay from the part that the leaves would come put of, form into more of a coil shape.
4) wrt clay andhand with water.
5) put pressure on clay as you pull down to create desired shape for handle.
6) keep applying water to hand and piece as needed.
7) hang handle from table or counter to dry.
8) cut top of handle of size and score and slip to the bottom of the mug.
9) trim bottom of handle to size and score and slip to the bottom of the mug.
10) blend together as needed.
11) place in drying cabinet.
