Long Term Memory

A

Holds information we’re able to store and bring back to mind from weeks, months and even years before. The neural links congregate in the neocortex - the thin sheet of neural tissue that rides over the ridges and deep groves of the brain’s surface.

Q

Retrieval Practice

A

Retrieval Practice is one of the most effective techniques when it comes to strengthening the new information in long-term memory.

Retrieval practice means drawing ideas you’re starting to learn from your own mind rather than simply looking at the answer.

Examples of retrieval practice are flash cards, looking away from the page to see if you can retrieve the information and writing essays.
