Building materials Flashcards
Describe the production of concrete
Concrete is made using cement, gravel, sand, and water. When water is added to cement, sand, and gravel crystals start to form. These crystals will lock and that is why cement is so hard.
Describe the process of creating cement
Cement is made by heating limestone and clay in a gas furnace of about 1400°C. The results are a mixture of two substances, calcium silicate, and aluminum silicate.
Crystals will start to form when water is added to heat the cement.
