Why is the Victorian Period called the Victorian Period?

A

Queen Victoria reigned over the British empire for more than 60 years from 1837 to 1901. Britain was the world’s superpower and its empire was vast. The Victorians grew increasingly proud of their empire, to which the British North American colonies belonged.
