Buddhism explains a purpose to life, it explains apparent injustice and inequality around the world and it provides a code of practic or way od life that may lead to true happiness(nirvana).
Siddhartha Gautama
is said to have discovered what Buddhists claa the Middle way- a path of moderation away from the extermes of self-indulgence and self-mortification
Dharma
buddhism is a dharmic, non-thestic religion and a philosophy. it can be said to be one’s righteous duty or path
Buddhist creed
- I will conduct myself with ethical rectitude in all my actions, all my thoughts
- I will treat all people, all sentient beings with sympathetic understanding, with compassion, loving-kindness
- I will resist ander
- I will cultivate mental tranquility
- I will meditate, I will be aware of all my actions, all my thoughts
- I will regect egoistic desire, all notions of a unity called self, all notions of permanence
- I will notregret the past nor fret about the future.
- I will develop equanimity, I will not allow myself to exult in my good fortune or to despair in my bad fortune.
- I will strive to the best of ability for enlightment.
The Four Noble Truths
- The truth about suffering is that it exists. Life is suffering. Birth, aging and dying is suffering.
- Our reaching into the world of dreams, our desire to fulfill what cannot be fulfilled is whatbring sus our suffering
- Only by reaching a state of “not wanting” can we end our suffering
- The Eight-Fold Path(middle path) can help us to break our habits of suffering.

Enlightnment
Nirvana- release from pain and suffering
Following the Eight-Fold Path helps one attain Nirvana and escape pain and suffering
Reincarnation- reborn in another body with no memory of previous lives and subjected to lifetimes of suffering
Break the cycle by reaching Nirvana
Buddhist Monks spend their lives meditating to attain Enlightenment
