When did Buddhism start?
Around 2500 years ago. Around 400 BCE
Where did Buddhism start?
India
Where does Buddhism fall in terms of popularity?
Buddhism is the 4th largest religion. Around 7% of the population is Buddhist, or around 520 million people.
Who created Buddhism?
Buddhism was started by a prince named Siddhartha Gautama.
What is Moksha (again)?
Escaping the cycle of reincarnation and suffering and achieving Nirvana.
What are the 4 Noble truths?
Life is suffering (dukka). Dukka is caused by desire. There is an end to suffering. You can end suffering by following the Eight-fold path.
What is the Eight-fold path?
A number of steps to follow to achieve the end of suffering. Right view, thought, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness. and concentration.
What is Samsara?
Samsara is the cycle of time and rebirth.
What are the three mayor branches of Buddhism?
Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana.
What is Pali canon?
A collection of Theravada Buddhist scriptures.
