BS III Histology - Blood Week 1 Flashcards
What are the structures of blood?
Contains Erythrocytes (Red blood cells), Leukocytes, Platelets.
Soluble protein fibres and a ground substance form plasma
What are the functions of the bloods structures?
Erythrocytes transport gases.
Leukocytes control immune response.
Platelets help with clotting.
Plasma transport nutrients, wastes and hormones.
What is peripheral membrane?
Proteins in the plasma are interconnected forming a cytoskeleton network along the inner cell membrane.
This imparts elasticity and strength to Erythrocytes.
What proteins form spectrin tetrameres?
Actin Filament
Tropomyosin
protein 4.1: Links Anti-Tropomyosin complex to glycophorin.
Adducin is a calmodulin-binding protein that associates actin with spectrin.
