Disillusioning

A

Infant isnt centre of everything, mother must put infant centre of world before disillusioning. Infant realises that objects he relates to are separate and out of their control. Infant understands needs not being met by mother.

The holding environment

A

Mother is the container to hold bad objects from childs projection. Infant can transition at its own rate to autonomy.

Transitional experience

A

Inbetween subjective omnipotence - me and objective reality - not me. Transitional object, represents mother when she is absent. Disillusioning causes anxiety, transitional object helps defence.
