16
Q

Why does Lawrence Weston score badly on the environmental survey ?

A

Lawrence Weston worst education - census data shows 38% pass A* - C - results in lower wages and possibly less money to look after the area. People have less disposable income (money left after paying bills) to spend in the area.

17
Q

What did questionnaire results show?

A

Clifton scored well on feelings of safety, health and environment, central a close second and LW scoring low.

18
Q

In which area did LW score better than central?

A

Crime - primary data - photos suggested LW had a high crime rate whereas census shows central Bristol had the worst crime rate - more nightlife , tourist and general numbers of people - crime is easier to commit.,

19
Q

Conclusions and evaluation - how reliable and accurate are the conclusions.

How do you know if conclusions are accurate?

A

The primary results will be supported by the secondary results.

Clifton census data - secondary data - suggested the quality of life was high and this was supported by the primary data - environmental survey, questionnaires and photos - also suggested this.

20
Q

Why is primary data collection results not perfect?

A

environmental survey is subjective - could improve by using class results and take an average
Questionnaire more accurate because residents were asked. BUT survey sample size is small so not truly representative.

21
Q

Why is secondary data collection results not perfect?

A

Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) data and Census data give data for a whole area. HOWEVER, both data sets are at least 8 years old - out of date.

22
Q

How can the urban fieldwork investigation be improved?

A

It can be improved by returning over several days to repeat methods (take averages) and using more up to date secondary data (Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) data and Census data ).
