Brezhnev Doctrine
1968, after Prauge spring
“No country in Eastern Europe should be allowed to abandon communism
We shall use force to ensure this”
Gave the USSR the right to intervene in the affairs of other Socialist countries in effort to support communism

Justification of Prauge spring :
Reformist leader Dubček introduced liberalizing reforms: more freedom of speech, press, and limited political pluralism.
The USSR and Warsaw Pact allies saw this as a threat to socialist unity…
In August 1968, Soviet-led troops invaded Czechoslovakia to crush the reforms.

it legally enshrined the Communist Party’s monopoly on power.
