What is the difference between a congenital and hereditary disease ?
Congenital is a disease or disorder from birth . Hereditary is a disease or disorder inherited genetically.
Give an example of a congenital disease.
Heart disease , cleft palette , hernia .
Give an example of a Hereditary disease.
Hip Dysplasia , epilepsy.
What care will puppies need help with ?
Suckling , Colostrum , Hygiene
Why is suckling important for neonatal care ?
Monitor each puppies intake and if needed moving them closer to the teat.
Why is colostrum needed for neonatal care ?
It’s required for the first 24 hours and hand rearing pups if they don’t latch on .
Why is hygiene needed for neonatal care ?
To reduce diseases . Cleaning umbilical cord within first 24 hours

An organism in which the genetic material has been altered in a way that doesn’t occur naturally by mating .
What is artificial insemination ?
Semen collected from desirable male and injected manually into female .
What is DNA screening as a reproductive technology?
Used to assess the likelihood of getting a condition later on or if anything can be passed onto offspring.
