- gently spread labia to visualize urethral meatus
- insert index finger into vagina and gently apply pressure to the anterior wall as you slide your finger toward you

check for cystocele or rectocele

- rinse by swirling in solution at least 10 times
- introduce endocervical brush into cervical os and rotate 1/2 turn in one direction
- rinse by swirling in solution at least 10 times
pap smear: broom protocol
- insert central bristles into endocervical canal and rotate clockwise 5x
- push the broom on the bottom of vial 10x, then swirl vigorously
thin prep has concurrent testing for
HPV and GC/chlamydia
