Treatment of Lobular Carcinoma In Situ
A
Considered a marker of increased risk of subsequent breast cancer development. Implied risk extends over all breast tissue, bilaterally. Women should receive counseling about increased risk which can be approximately 25%. Simplest mgmt is careful screening with annual mammo and clinical exam. Some may consider chemopreventon with 5 year course of tamoxifen which is expected to lower risk of invasive breast CA by half. Post-menopausal esp those with osteoporosis may consider raloxifine.
