Deep fascia covering the pec major and Serratus Anterior

Lobules - capable of lactating

Extension of breast/ fatty tissue that extends up into axilla

Majority of lymphatic drainage of breast?
Most lymph (75%) - drains to ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes and then to supraclavicular
Lymph from inner breast quadrants?
Can drain to parasternal nodes
Lymph from lower inner breast quadrants?
Can drain to abdo lymph nodes
Name the lymph nodes
What does axilla contain?
brachial plexus branches
axillary artery (& branches) and axillary vein (& tributaries)
axillary lymph nodes
all embedded in axillary fat
Levels of axillary node clearance?
Level I – inferior and lateral to pectoralis minor
Level II – deep to pectoralis minor
Level III – superior and medial to pectoralis minor
