What should lead do during a breakout situation?

A
  • Continue the current maneuver with the current power setting if possible
  • If the wingman is in sight, you may maneuver to obtain, increase, or guarantee separation
  • In all cases, lead should try to stay visual and be directive with the wingman as appropriate

What should wing do in a breakout?

A
  • Clear in the direction of the breakout and maneuver to ensure safe separation from other aircraft
  • Notify lead when conditions permit
  • Once safe separation is assured, the wingman may rollout to attempt to regain visual
